Exactly that. When you claim a pedestal it will glow Blue. When the White Mantle claims a pedestal it will glow Red, and white is nuetral. You need to turn all the pedestals Blue, if they all turn Red, you lose.

This is one of the missions I couldn't do with just henchies. Its hard as each time you take a pedastel, the white mantel just take it back. I gave up and tried just to kill the runner, and I did. I also killed the group protecting it. THen the next runner comes up right when the henchies and I are done killing the first group, so we are exhausted and (alesia is dead) and we tried to fend off this assault, but they attuned the portal, and I had to start the mission ALL OVER.

yeah, henches are absolutely useless on this mission, because you'll be the only one running the crystals, which means you waste half the time you could be using to run the next one out.

How many pedestals are there in total? I failed 2 times with PUG. What we did is kill the boss near the place that give bonus. We light up a few pedestals there. We proceed. When we reach a big open space with many pedestals, we met a group of Whitle Mantles led by a runner with a crystal. He ran to straight to the pedestal near us. We tried to stop him but he managed to claim that pedestal and we lost. It was so fast that we dont even know what happened exactly. Any tips?

Get an archer with "Pin Down", or a mesmer with "Imagined Burden" to slow the runner down. It'll be easier to kill him this way

Now for my strategy: I usually claim the bottom and left pedestal before the battle begins, then camp the left one (The Mantle almost always go after that one first) Then we slow and kill the runner using the above tactics, then we just kill off the rest of the group. Rinse and repeat until they are all dead, then move in to kill the Demagogue (if we do the bonus) and claim the last pedestal.

If we can't kill the runner in time, or if they go for the bottom pedestal instead, we just go fetch another crystal to claim it back

Dac - That is what we have done and it works like a charm. Don't allow your group to run around like fools, just defend one pedestal ALL TOGETHER and attune the rest later.

my monk is at Aurora Glade. If you want some help with the mission and putting together a party that can accomplish it message me in game.

IGN: Galen Cole
I should be on around 8:30 or 9 p.m. EST

I did it with my elementalist (with some guildmates)... and for my ranger and my monk, I been tired of trying it with PUGs that won't listen... I decided to run to the next town

I don't suggest it if it is your first character though !

Four public guys and the rest henchies can get it done. Have someone get the left portal tuned. And then protect it. Hit the runner and focus fire, then attack the group. Keep pushing the front line forward until you have a bottleneck and the runner has no place to go. Keep on them until they are out of men. Then go kill the demagogue. Once you do that, then tune the rest of the portals. One of the easiest missions to do if everyone is on the same page.

Jamesbarker, just attune and defend the one pedestal.

Have a warrior standing closest to where the mantle come from, but STILL WITHIN HEALING RANGE and call the runner ASAP. Then everyone has the target before he approaches. Rangers/mesmers slow him down, slaughter him. You should have enough time to kill the runner's escorts before the next wave.

Part of the problem is straying TOO FAR into the white mantle territory. You risk losing your own pedestal, and get mobbed like crazy. Have some restraint and stay back, wait for them to come.

After everyone is dead, it's cake to kill the Demagogue and attune the rest of the pedestals.

It really is a fun one!

My tactics to beat this mission + bonus.

There are 3 pedestals.

I send my party to the left one

(You need a Ranger with Pin Down for this)

Let the mantle place their crystal on the left one. After they place it then start killing them. Have your runner place your crystal their. The mantle will try to place a crystal on the right one. Let them do it and then replace with yours.

As long as you can kill the main group of mantle you are ok.

You then start moving up the left side, each time a runner comes, use pin down, then kill. Move up, use pin down, then kill.

Once you get inside the door way you kill the last runner and then kill the main guy for the bonus.

Then go back and place all the crystals and you get mission as well.

I have done this with 3 characters and had no difficulty (When my party listened to me)

***What made this mission easier for me was letting their runner place the crystal on the left and having our runner hanging back and then immediately placing it on the left after their runner ran away***

If you don't care about the bonus, this mission is insanely easy: just attune the center portal, then the left, then right, then left again, then center again for the win. No need for any sprinting, no need to slow the Runner down (you'll never even run into the Mantle, so no fighting, either), and can be done with henchmen.

You wanna do the bonus? That's when you need to strategize!

Beat the mantle back to the gateway they come out of. Use one person to run crystals. when you get them pened in. Wipe them all oou. When you kill the leader you will get bonus. Then finsh with the crystals.

I just finished this mission with pure henchies. I didn't do the bonus however - I will go back and do the bonus when I feel like it. doing the bonus needs a whole different strategy to how I did the mission.

The whole key to doing the mission (without bothering to do the bonus) is to ensure you time the attunement of the pedastal's correctly. You can do it without fighting at all... and having a speed boost will help you, though it's possible without it.

It's been pointed out how to do it.. but I'll post again how I did it.

1. attune the center one (closest to you)
2. run to attune the left pedastal (the one the mantle attune while your attuning the center one)
3. run back and grab a crystal and run to attune the right pedastal - I actually just ran in front of the mantle as they were trying to attune the center pedastal... don't fight em, just run past them (and ignore the henchies if they start fighting.. they'll pull off eventually)
4. run back and attune the center pedastal. At this point I got the cutscene and won...
5. if no speed skill you probably will have to grab another crystal and attune the left pedastal again. this should give you the victory..
6. if not just keep running in the order above and you will get it eventually.

if you want to complete the bonus... you need to just camp one pedastal and kill the mantle groups as they come till you kill enough that the boss comes out.. there's been plenty of post's showing how to do it though.

but to everyone who says the mission can't be beat with henchies.. I say pfftt! to you The bonus can likely be done with henchies as well.. but just might be a tad harder than with a well orginized player group. heh

There are only 3 pedastals in the portal region - 1 close to where you start, 1 to the left and 1 to the right - that center "pedastal" you see on your map is the portal.. don't bother going there.

This works perfectly. As for the bonus: Have your group defend one portal, and make sure you leave 1 for them. Have 2-3 people just wait outside where they all coem from till all the Mantle has left. Run in and just have the 2-3 people attack the leader. Once that's done, just attune the other portals.

i actually know a way that you can do both the mission and bonus. just run to the closet portal once you enter where all three of the crystal portals are at. then you light it up and stay there. so basically you're securing only one portal. when the group of white mantle come at you just attack the one holding the crystal. ranger pin down, mesmer imagined burden... once you kill off the one holding the crystal. kill off the abotts. after a while you should kill off all white mantle. then run towards the back where the bonus boss guy is and kill him off. also there should be two chests near him don't forget to open those..lol. then after getting bonus finish the first part of the mission the second part is going to the jungle area and killing those snake dragon things...when you get there kill off the wind riders first..the conjure phantasm is very evil..

i was in a group with real people. we had one monk, a mesmer, two rangers, a tank, and a necro. when the white mantle come at you make sure your necro uses well of blood? so your monk doesn't get over-whelmed? i know i spelled that wrong...and also it would be helpful if your tank or ranger calls the target of who's holding the crystal, because the first part of the mission can be a little all over the place...you know drops everywhere, dead bodies over eachother and more red dots coming in your circle map...lol
but besides that our group did an awesome job. and no one actually died!

I did this yesterday with only Alesia, and EASILY completed the whole thing.

When running the portals, just don't screw around and you should beat them. Even by yourself. Even without sprint. The Mantle are very slow.

I had to redo one of the things. I believe I went closest, next closest, farthest, and again closest to the spawn pedestal.

BTW I am level 20 W/Mo who was just checking out the mish for potential farming areas. So don't go solo if you're trying to level up.
